From Quayside to Middlesbrough: Alex Hindson's Bao Down Expands to STACK Middlesbrough
Owner Alex Hindson, also the owner of Hatch 76, has been in the street food game for eight years, starting at Newcastle’s Quayside Market in 2016. During lockdown, he launched Bao Down, first opening at STACK Newcastle, then at STACK Seaburn and St. James’ STACK—and now, they’re coming to Middlesbrough!
Alex has also been a regular at Orange Pip Market trading as Hatch 76, and is originally from Newton Aycliffe.
“When I was younger we’d always come to Middlesbrough for a night out and it’s always had a fantastic music and street food scene,” he said.
“It absolutely suits STACK down to the ground and I’m very excited for it opening.
“We’re going to be in a great location with a really urban feel and I can’t wait.”
Craving an Asian snack?
As a chef by trade, Alex has curated a menu packed with bao bun classics, loaded fries, and delicious gyozas. Fans of Asian street food will love their options, from BBQ Korean pork and katsu chicken to crispy tofu and oyster mushroom.
Third STACK site, same great food!
“We’re beyond excited to open our third STACK Bao Down at STACK Middlesbrough and bring our famous bao buns to Teesside,” says Alex. "It’s a fantastic opportunity to share our vibrant flavours with all the STACK fans. We can't wait for you to taste the magic!”
