St. James' STACK is a welcoming social hub, providing a safe environment to ensure all visitors can have an enjoyable experience.

St. James’ Stack Plaza:

Mon - Sunday 10am – 12midnight

YOLO Coffee & Kitchen:

Daily: 8am – 8pm

In general there is no entry fee to St. James’ STACK presented by Sela we operate as a walk-up venue.

There may be ad hoc ticketed events take place and a charge may apply.

If deemed necessary, we may introduce ticketed entry on match-days for operational safety and customer satisfaction in the future.

  • STACK will be open daily to the general public for walk up only.
  • Some events may be ticketed to manage crowds.
  • Table reservations may be introduced in the future.

Newcastle United shirts are welcome. 

We have a relaxed dress code, however as a general rule: we advise smart casual clothing be worn on evenings and weekends. If wearing sportswear, you may be refused entry outside of a match day after 7pm.

Please remember this is an outdoor venue so dress appropriately for the weather, especially in the winter months.

STACK does not allow fancy dress. Unfortunately, any guests arriving in fancy dress will be refused entry.

Families are very welcome to visit STACK.

Under 18s visiting the main STACK Plaza area must be accompanied by a parent / legal guardian, or an adult aged 25 or over at all times due to the nature of STACK being a licensed premises that serves alcohol. 

Anyone under the age of 18 must be off site by 8pm. Under 18s may be refused entry into the venue from 7:30pm. 

Weekends - Under 18s may be refused entry into the venue from 7:00pm. Any under 18s already in the venue will be asked to leave no later than 8pm, in line with our license. 

Match Day (Televised Games): Under 18’s will be permitted to stay in the venue until 10pm for any televised matches with a late kick off. They must be accompanied by a parent / legal guardian, or an adult aged 25 or over at all times.

Kroud Karaoke - Under 18s will be refused entry into the venue from 7:00pm. All under 18s already in the venue before this time must be off site by 8pm before the event starts - Kroud Karaoke is an 18+ event only.

Although STACK serves food, you are entering a licensed premises where alcohol can be purchased, therefore teenagers must be accompanied by an adult aged 25. This policy is in place to protect our license and reduce the risk of alcohol being purchased for under 18s. 

STACK prohibits the consumption of beer, wine or cider to anyone under the age of 18 even if they are consuming a table (substantial) meal.

All televised Newcastle United matches will be shown on the STACK big screens. There will be no live streaming of games that aren’t televised.

No bookings will be required when we first open – this will be reviewed to see how the venue operates, and booking/tickets may be introduced if necessary.

The venue may open earlier for match days and other events to accommodate early kick offs.

The venue is serviced well by public transport in the city centre.

There is a Metro Station on site and the venue is 5 minutes walk from nearby bus stations.

Access to St. James’ Metro station will be maintained around the site. Additional way finding signage and lighting will retain easy access to the station.

There is no public parking on site – city centre car parks are within a 5-minute walk from the venue.

Cycle Racks are provided, all bicycles are left at owners own risk and should be locked up securely.

Facilities: Accessible toilets are available on both floors. Please be aware we do not have adult changing facilities.

Accessibility: Our venues are all wheelchair accessible and lifts are available to all floors.

Strobe lighting/ effects: We have a lot of different entertainment and some shows may contain flashing lights and smoke machines.

Bars and Food Vendors: Our bars and food outlets have high service points. Please speak to a member of our team who will be happy to assist any guest placing or receiving an order.

Menus are also be available online on the STACK website. 

No, we would like to remind visitors that only food & drinks purchased from any of our food vendors situated at St. James’ STACK can be consumed on our premises.

 

Any food & drink found from outside the venue will be confiscated and customers may be asked to leave or refused entry.

Food is provided by individual street food traders who will offer a diverse menu including vegetarian and vegan options.

Yes. Random bag searches are carried out regularly.

No, you must keep bags/luggage with you at all times. There are no cloakrooms or luggage storage areas on site.

The venue will have customer Wi- Fi, there are no charge points.

Smoking & Vaping is permitted on in the ground floor plaza area only.

No smoking or vaping is permitted on the first floor.

This may change in the winter when additional coverage of the plaza area may be installed. In this instance there will be no smoking on the premises and there will be an external designated smoking area.

Yes, we accept card, contactless and cash payments.

Dogs are welcome up until 9pm* everyday – there are assigned doggy water stations within the venue.

Please be respectful of other customers and do not allow your pooch to sit / lie on the benches where customers consume food.

*The management may bring this time forward if we are extremely busy or for events such as Kroud Karaoke.

Adequate security personnel will be provided for all occasions at the venue. This includes door staff on the main entrances and door staff positioned and patrolling inside the venue. Security staff will be provided by a professional company which is SIA approved to ensure a safe environment.

Extra consideration will be given to door staff numbers on matchdays at St James’ Park and where required additional security personnel will be on duty during the periods of highest footfall.

A CCTV system will be in place and will be serviced by accredited contractor. A full digital system is in operation and recording 24 hours a day.

All broadcasting needs permission from the Club and STACK.

Please be aware that photographs taken within the venue may appear in advertising literature or on our website, social media and any advertising on site including screen ads and posters.

For health and safety reasons, we cannot allow balloons in the venue. This policy helps us maintain a safe environment for all our guests and staff.

Noise restrictions are in line with the Noise Report.

No live music after 9.30pm

A Crowd Management Plan will be in operation at all times. All walk ways around the perimeter of the venue will be kept clear for pedestrian access. Improvements to lighting, way finding signage and the removal of shrubs will make the area directly surrounding the venue accessible.

There is no parking at the venue and visitors will be encouraged to use public transport.

Performers will be selected on suitability to appeal to the STACK audience and performance quality and experience. We proudly support local artists and entertainers, upcoming artists and well-established performers.

The stage will be programmed with a variety of live music and events for a wide range of audiences including but not limited to:

  • Solo acoustic artists
  • Duos/ Trios
  • Bands
  • Quiz nights (General and Sports focussed)
  • Kids events celebrating children’s favourite characters, magicians, shows
  • Kroud Karaoke (mass sign along)
  • Tribute artists
  • 70's, 80’s, 90’s themed nights

St. James' STACK presented by Sela will show a wide selection of sport with a focus football.

All televised Newcastle United games will be screened with commentary.

Major sporting events including the Olympics, Grand Prix, Wimbledon, Cheltenham Gold Cup will be shown.

Not all televised sporting events will be screened with commentary – however this will be clearly communicated in our what’s on guide.

Live music and entertainment will take place as usual unless there is a televised event with commentary.

St. James’ STACK directly employs over 100 staff full & part time staff with he majority (over 90%) being local to the North East.

Additionally, there are x 15 security staff employed along with approx. a further 50 staff employed full and part time by the independent traders.

Therefore, the site has created 165 new jobs.
